Summer Programs
As we emerge from the pandemic into the new era of admissions, one thing is clear more than anything else. The work students do in 9th and 10th grade—both in and out of the classroom—determines their college options in 12th grade. It’s not as simple as participating in admirable but overly common activities such as science fairs, Math Olympiads, HOSA, or starting a peer tutoring service. Students should begin to participate in leadership positions, internships, jobs, selective summer programs, and more starting in 9th grade. There is so much your 9th/10th grader can do to position themself for maximum college admissions success, and guiding them won’t cost you a fortune or create a scheduling nightmare

While the PSAT itself has no impact on your child’s college admissions and receiving the Merit Scholarship is unlikely, the SAT and AP exams do have a tremendous impact.
